Safety First

Safety is our priority. Below are the verbal and hand signals we use on our group rides.

Hand Signals

  • Index finger held overhead: move to single-file
  • Pointing to obstacles in road: gravel, potholes, dangerous cracks
  • Sweeping hand behind back: move over, there’s an obstruction in the road ahead (physical or another rider)
  • Open hand behind back: slowing (also say “slowing”)
  • Closed fist behind back: stopping (also say “stopping”)

Verbal Signals

  • “Car back”
  • “Car up”
  • “Rider up”
  • “Rider back”
  • “Clear”
  • “Slowing”
  • “Stopping”
